Tailgating at Kyle Field

Where to set up

  • Open-access sites around campus are free and first come, first served. They are outside the 15 feet of green space around the 12th Man lots; if you park in a 12th Man lot you can tailgate in the first 15 feet of green space around it.
  • All tailgating in Aggie Park needs a reservation: paid ones through Revel XP at (979) 775-1700, free ones through the Aggie Park page. Reed Arena also uses the virtual land rush.
  • Trailer-mounted grills, smokers and TVs can go in the green space around 12th Man lots or the Reed Arena lawn if the towing vehicle stays out of the green space.

When lots open

  • Open-access spaces open at 9 a.m. the day before the game. The land rush starts when the air horn sounds at noon.
  • Leaving a tent frame in your spot holds it. You can also mark a perimeter.
  • The Fan Zone around Kyle Field is a pedestrian area before the game: Joe Routt Boulevard is closed between Wellborn Road and Throckmorton, and Houston Street closes at 6 a.m. on game days.

Rules

  • Tents in non-reserved areas can't use stakes that go deeper than 12 inches. Use sand, concrete blocks or water barrels if you need more anchoring.
  • Recreational generators are allowed in all sites, up to 80 decibels.
  • Put hot coals out and use the designated coal receptacles. Fires on the ground and open fire pit devices are not allowed.
  • Any selling or soliciting needs approval from the University Concessions Committee, and approval is typically not given for game day tailgating areas.

Shuttles, RVs & getting there

  • Accessible parking is in Parking Area 88 or the University Center Garage, with shuttle buses to the Joe Routt entrance of Kyle Field.
  • Permanent restrooms are in the Memorial Student Center, Koldus Building and Rudder Theatre Complex. Questions: Aggieland Tailgating, (979) 862-7547.
